Salvatore Barba PhD, BCN
Sal has been a licensed psychotherapist for more than 35 years. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Northeastern University in 1976, and pursued further clinical training at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, obtaining his Masters and Doctorate in Psychology at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, (ITP) in 1989. Sal has trained in Gestalt Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Experiential Psychology, Existential Psychology and Contemplative Psychology. He has trained with numerous professionals in the field of Psychology, Neuroscience, and Buddhist Psychology. Sal is a Focusing Oriented Therapist (FOT), and was trained by Mary McGuire, Psy.D., and Eugene Gendlin at the International Focusing Institute in the late 1980’s. He has been a certified Focusing Instructor. He integrated EEG Neurofeedback and Biofeedback into his practice in 2004, and conducts QEEG mapping to develop training methods for optimal brain functioning.
As he employs these therapies, Sal helps his clients to engage with their own experiences and thoughts as they persue ways to attain a meaningful and optimal life. He integrates biofeedback methods into his clinical work with adolescents, adults and couples, and engages in a reflective process as he develops caring and compassionate clinical relationships with his clients.
Sal is an affiliate of the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance, (BCIA) International Society for Neurofeedback and Research, (ISNR) The International Focusing Institute, and a member and instructor at Nalandawest: an International Buddhist teaching Center. He is Board Certified in EEG Biofeedback.
